PRE-RELEASE | Grüner Veltliner | Tumbarumba | 2025

Tasting notes

'Grüner' in German means 'green' i tend to think of it as ripe green, think that fresh crisp green alikened to a fresh snow pea just been snapped in half from the garden, little fresh cut green apple, nectarine and a hint of citrus zest. Fine yet supple texture with racy acidity that lends grippy minerality on the finish.

The site

Courabyra Vineyard - The site with its western facing slopes, altitude of 730 metres, decomposed granite soils. The vineyard was first established in 1993 with plantings of Pinot Noir, Pinot Muenier and Chardonnay. The Grüner Veltliner was grafted in 2016 with the first fruit from the vines in the 2017 growing season. Think crisp clean air and running green hills with lush growing conditions.

Winemaking

Hand picked very early morning to keep the fruit cool, immediatly loaded onto enclosed truck and headed straight back to the winery. Pressed into stainless steel cooled to 4 degrees and racked from heavy lees, natural yeast, fermented at 17c, minimal sulphur added.
